 About Sara Frost, LPC

The healing begins as our story is heard….

My name is Sara Frost and I’ve been working in the field of mental health counseling for the past 12 years. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders, addiction, complex trauma and life transitions. I enjoy helping a wide range of clients including older teens, young adults/adults, parents and individuals facing new chapters in their lives.

My approach to working with clients is strengths based and relational. I firmly believe that a trusting and genuine therapeutic relationship is an essential foundation to effective treatment. People are inherently resilient and with the correct support and tools, healing can occur. I provide a safe space for my clients to feel supported as they courageously address the issues bringing them to therapy.

My approach to treatment is eclectic as I understand that each client has individual needs and responds differently to therapy techniques. I have specialized training and certifications in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Resource Brain Spotting, Sand Tray Therapy, women’s issues and the treatment of addiction.. I have experience working with transgender individuals as well as their families.  I meet the WPATH standards of care for working with individuals who are going through the gender confirmation process.

.

In 2007 I earned a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM. After graduate school, I spent a number of years working with families and teens in therapeutic wilderness programs and boarding schools. After the birth of my daughter, I began working with clients in a more traditional outpatient setting as well as over tele-health.

In 2020, I became a nationally certified counselor and licensed as a specialist in the treatment of addiction. I am currently training with the EMDR Institute. I am licensed to practice in Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina and provide mostly telehealth.
